England miss chance to seal top spot in draw with Slovenia

Saka denied by offside flag as Three Lions held in Cologne

England missed the chance to seal top spot in their Euro 2024 qualifying group after being held to a 0-0 draw by Slovenia in Cologne on Tuesday.

Gareth Southgate's side were already guaranteed a place in the last 16 before the game, but they were unable to build on their impressive 5-0 win over Andorra on Saturday.

Bukayo Saka thought he had put England ahead in the first half, but the goal was ruled out for offside against Phil Foden.

England continued to press for a winner in the second half, but they were unable to break down a resolute Slovenia defence.

The result means that England will now face one of the best third-placed teams in the round of 16.
